Who's Nii-Kii ?

Nii-Kii is a small handmade soap business based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  It was created with passion by me, Monique Kennedy, a massage & bodywork therapist, wife and mother.  My business has been the source of fine quality handmade soap since 2004. Nii-Kii is pronounced “knee-Key”. This was my nickname as a child.

Nii-Kii started on my kitchen table and served as a wonderful creative outlet.  Soap making, I soon discovered, is addicting.  I enjoyed experimenting and creating little works of usable art and the best part…this soap was natural and excellent for my dry skin. My husband was the next to notice how his chronically dry/irritated skin patches became smooth and clear. I began hearing similar stories from friends and family along with requests for more bars. I began researching (and haven't stopped) and made loaf after loaf of soap.

The wonderful thing about natural handmade soap is that it doesn’t strip the skin of its natural protective oil layer.  It cleans gently without covering your body with a chemical cocktail.

Ok…now I’m officially hooked!  What started as a creative outlet soon morphed into

a business.  Hey, I had to do something with all the soap bars taking over my home.

My family is a big help. My husband Evan is the webmaster and overall tech support for the business.

He is responsible for making all of my wooden molds

and large soap cutter.  My children Jessica and Liam

are scent/bar testers and wrappers.

Here at Nii-Kii we are committed to the truth that, what we put onto our bodies is just as important as what we put into them.

Our passion is creating products that are healthy, beautiful and eco-friendly/biodegradable.  Soap bars are created in small batches to ensure a premium product with the kind of quality service you expect from a small business. We hope you come clean with us!

Sincerely,
